Every artist sets goals for himself that he wants to achieve. Tomas Lagūnavičius, as an artist, set himself the goal of having more paintings in museums and galleries than M.K. Čiurlionis. Currently, there are 507 paintings by Tomas Lagūnavičius in various foreign and Lithuanian museums and galleries. The most popular cycles of paintings by T. Lagūnavičius that have been in museums and galleries are:
1. Become a postmodernist
2. 50 rules for living in a futuristic city
3. Children's philosophy
4. Lithuanian nationalism and/or Eurocentrism
5. Metabuddhism
6. And others.
Tomas Lagūnavičius has infinite respect for M. K. Čiurlionis, as a representative of the neo-romantic art movement, for his great contribution to Lithuanian art and music. However, this does not mean that one should not strive for even better results in creative activity. As Tomas Lagūnavičius states, “M.K. Čiurlionis encourages one to be hardworking and dedicated to creative work. And most importantly, to expand the presentation of one’s works throughout the world.”
Art history should inspire artists to be responsible for their creative lives, not to procrastinate.
